IFMGA Mountain Guide?
The British Association of Mountain Guides (BMG) was formed in 1975 and, along with 21 other countries, is a member of the International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations (IFMGA) which sets the standards for the training of guides world wide. The IFMGA badge worn by guides has become the assurance of the highest professional and technocal standards.
What skills do Mountain Guides have?
The range of activities covered by guides includes: hillwalking, mountaineering, rock climbing, ice climbing, alpinism, ski mountaineering, off-piste skiing, the Himalayas and Greater Ranges, canyoning, equipment design, consultancy, lecture and film work.
Why chose to climb with a Mountain Guide?
People employ Guides for different reasons- for example to climb a particular mountain, or to short circuit the learnig process, or simply to enjoy a well earned holiday. We cannot guarantee safety-nobody can- but what is certain is that have a much greater chance of completing your objective in bad weather or in difficult conditions.
